I am a psychodynamic therapist with over a decade of experience working across the helping professions in community-based mental-health, forensic, and addiction services. I am registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and am a Senior Accredited Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I see individual adults privately in Fitzrovia in Central London.
Prior to working privately, I worked for five years in the voluntary sector, providing long-term therapy to individuals with histories of addiction and early developmental trauma. This gave me an understanding of the extent to which adverse early experiences can impact behaviour and psychological functioning in adulthood. Since then, I have undertaken post-qualifying training in trauma therapy and trauma-related dissociation.
I have a particular clinical and theoretical interest in states of depersonalisation, derealisation, and general feelings of disconnection and detachment. My thinking and work around these difficulties is influenced by contemporary psychodynamic approaches. I keep up to date with relevant research in this area.
How I Work
My treatment approach is primarily psychodynamic. Psychodynamic psychotherapy involves a process of exploring emotional themes and patterns that may be outside of your awareness and thus, unbenknownst to you, contributing to your relationships with others, behaviours and symptoms. Although these may have been conducive to your survival at one point, you may now be experiencing their cost. Psychodynamic therapy offers a way of making these themes and patterns conscious and thus amenable to change.
Alongside my established psychodynamic practice, my work is increasingly informed by Attachment-Based Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (AB-ISTDP). I have completed Foundation Skills training with ISTDP London and am continuing to develop my skills and knowledge in this approach through specialist supervision, session review and deliberate practice.
I usually work on a long-term basis with individuals as I believe this is most conducive to the development of a trusting therapeutic relationship and allows different aspects of the work to unfold at a natural pace.

The Initial Consultation
Before therapy commences, we would meet for an initial consultation of 50 minutes where I would find out more about your history, current circumstances and offer you an initial formulation of your difficulties. We would discuss whether psychodynamic treatment with me might be suitable for you. We would also discuss the parameters and boundaries of the therapeutic process. There is no charge for the initial consultation.
